Nasa 50th Anniversary Pin
In the world of sports, just about any sport has a following of pin collectors. Pins are designed and made by fans to support the sport they love.
Hockey pins are being traded at hockey events around the globe, and quickly emerging as a very popular item on the collecting market. There are professional league hockey pins, Olympic hockey pins, youth hockey pins, and many more types out there. What you choose to collect and trade is purely up to you, and the sky is the limit!
Many hockey pins feature hockey sticks, and possibly an ice rink or another design portraying the sport of hockey. Many hockey trading pins also feature a teams’ logo and slogan for that extra touch of uniqueness, and hockey pins are one of the most collectible types of lapel pins out there today.
Collecting cause and awareness lapel pins can be rewarding in several ways. Foremost if you’ve purchased a cause or awareness lapel pin, you’ve shown support by funding research for things like cancer research, fighting aids, or finding cures for childhood diseases.
Another way in which collecting awareness lapels can be rewarding is by the uniqueness of most of the pins released in support of a cause. Surely you’ve seen ribbon lapel pins, and there are several other types and styles of lapel pins out there that are created for awareness.
I’ve collected a lot of ribbon pins, and other awareness and cause pins for years. Most of them are very limited runs, and very collectible.
There are also other reasons for ribbon pins, such as patriotism, as shown in the image to the left. It makes me feel good to collect awareness pins because I usually buy them directly from the vendor supporting the cause, which means that I’ve somehow contributed to the cause, and that’s always a good thing!
In the world of lapel pin collecting, there are certain things one looks for when choosing a pin to keep, or a pin to toss. One of these factors is the type, or style, of pin.
The type of lapel pin can play a big part in selecting pins for your collection. Many times it comes down to simply how the pin looks, the quality of the finish, the luster and the general appearance of the lapel pin.
Pin styles vary drastically, and each style was developed to accomplish a certain goal, and with certain design characteristics in mind. I’ll run you through some of the core styles of lapel pins, ranging from the most popular, to the most expensive, and beyond. Let’s begin, shall we?
